As you may know, Guake is a free, open-source, lightweight, drop-down terminal for GNOME, inspired from the console used in Quake.
Among others, it has multi-monitor support, an easy to use, simple and elegant interface, support for adjusting the transparency, multi-tab support. Also, it has configurable hotkeys and the content of the file can be saved in a file.
The latest version available is Guake 0.8.4, which brings the below bug-fixes:
- Very big icon tray
- Feature keyboard shorcut hide on lose focus
- Endless transparency and small rework of hide on lose focus
- fix tray icon does not align in center
- Updated pt_BR translation
- improved Bluloco theme readability
Up to date packages are available via some third party PPA, so installing the software on Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf, Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr and other Ubuntu derivative systems is easy.
Just add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the guake package:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/unstable
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install guake
Optional, to remove guake, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove guake
